26th August 2012 was a very sad day. My good friend Kevin Brace passed away suddenly and without warning.

We go back a long way as he was the younger brother of Terry and Fred who were very good friends of mine from as long ago as the late 1950's. However it was when he joined Ryhope YC, now Sunderland RCA, back in 1960 that we also became very good friends. Kevin did great work on the committee of Ryhope CA until 1984 and being Treasurer was a key member in the clubs rise from the Seaham & District, Houghton & District and Northern Alliance Leagues and into the Northern League. He was always there to help in any way and his contribution to the clubs success should never be overlooked. He was a great family man, friend and a gentleman. He will be sadly missed.

Obviously this was a very sad day but I must say the church service was really nice and there was a massive turnout, including Billy Anderson, Brian Page and Norman Taylor from his days with Ryhope CA football Team, which clearly shows just how popular Kevin was.
